The Homestead’s golf tradition dates back more than 100 years. The historic resort is home to two championship golf courses that make the most of their breathtaking mountain setting – especially the spectacular waterfalls and rushing stream of Cascades Gorge. Among many golf distinctions are the country’s finest mountain course and the oldest first tee in continuous use.
American presidents from Taft to Eisenhower to George Bush Senior have golfed at The Homestead, as have two generations of Rockefellers (John D. and Nelson). Local resident Sam Snead learned the game on the Old Course and launched his career on the Cascades, which has hosted numerous USGA championships and PGA TOUR events.
