Raise a Glass to Virginia Wine Month with "Taste of the Region" at The Omni Homestead Resort

The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia, is kicking off Virginia Wine Month with a Taste of the Region event on Saturday, October 5. The historic resort, which hosted the Old Dominion's first gourmand, Thomas Jefferson, nearly two centuries ago, will welcome guests with palate-pleasing plates. 

Fill up on local favorites including craft brews, Virginia wines and regional spirits, as well as specialty dishes created with fresh and distinctive ingredients from throughout the area. Menu items will include Grilled Rock Barn Pork Sausages, Barbecue Local Chicken, Local Grass-Fed Beef Burgers, Smoked Brisket and Whole Tenderloins, with a selection of condiments including Jake's Mustard of Riner, Virginia, and Honey Barbecue Sauce from Hungry Hill Farm in Shipman. 

Everona Dairy of Rapidan will offer an assortment of artisan cheeses. Seafood lovers can look forward to a Chesapeake Crab Boil, Crispy Allegheny Trout, and Cornmeal Fried Rappahannock Oysters. And the dessert selection will include Virginia Cherry Cobbler with Crème Anglaise, and Cast Iron Cooked Spoon Bread with Strawberry Compote and Whipped Cream, to name a few. 

Meanwhile, thirsts will be quenched by winemakers, craft beer producers and distillers from the region including - but hardly limited to - White Hall Vineyards and Trump Wineryof Charlottesville; Rockbridge Vineyard of Raphine; Ingleside Vineyards of Oak Grove;Devil's Backbone Brewery of Roseland; Starr Hill Brewery of Crozet; Foothills Brewing of nearby Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Smooth Ambler Spirits of Maxwelton, West Virginia; Bold Rock Hard Cider of Nellysford, VA; and Chesapeake Bay Distilleryof Virginia Beach. Local band Cedar Creek will provide entertainment throughout the event. 

Taste of the Region will run from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday, October 5 on the Casino Lawn at The Omni Homestead. Price of admission: $50 for adults and $20 for children (plus taxes and gratuity), with additional drink tickets available for $2 apiece.
