Don Ryder, The Homestead’s director of golf, is an accomplished player and respected teacher. He is a past winner of the MAPGA Senior Championship, the Southern Chapter Senior Championship, and the MAPGA Senior-Junior Championship, with his cousin, Barry. Honored with the VSGA Service to Golf award in 2003, Don has been instrumental in promoting golf in Virginia, through the VSGA, USGA, NCAA, plus many other regional groups.
Mark Fry, head golf professional for the renowned Cascades Course is a Bath County, Virginia native who learned the game in his Allegheny Mountains backyard. He was an outstanding junior golfer and all-conference collegiate player at East Tennessee State University. Mark has been with The Homestead since 1996 and has also served as Director of Instruction at the resort.
Barry Ryder, director of The Homestead Advantage Golf School, is one of the top golf teachers in Virginia, with more than 20 years of golf experience at the resort. The Bath County native has served as Head Professional at both the Lower Cascades and the Cascades courses. Barry is also an accomplished player, with numerous tournament victories including the Mid-Atlantic PGA Senior/Junior Championship and the Bobby Jones Pro Invitational.
