When winter brings a blanket of snow to the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia, it’s ski trip time at The Homestead, where skiers and snowboarders will find more than 45 acres of wide, well-maintained trails. A lesson at Sepp Kober Ski School will provide beginners with the basics and experienced skiers with more finesse. Our Virginia ski resort is the oldest and finest in the Southeast and is especially ideal for families.
Off the slopes, the winter fun continues with ice-skating, snow tubing and snowmobile tours. And to take the chill off after a day in the snow, relax by the fire in the Mountain Lodge or roast s’mores by our outdoor rink located on the Casino Lawn.
Parent’s drop your kids off for a fun day or half day of winter time activities while you hit the slopes. Our Little Penguins Program is a winter version of our famous KidsClub. Your kids will spend the day building snowmen, sledding, making snow angels, and other fun winter activities. Little Penguins hang out at the “Igloo” which means that your child is only a “snowballs” throw away from the Mountain Lodge. Enjoy your day on the slopes while the kids play. Little Penguins program does not involve skiing or snowboarding. Hours of operation: 9-4 or 9-12 or 12:30-4 and 12-12:30 is lunch. A copy of children's birth certificate and most recent immunization records are required.
A favorite skiing destination since 1959, The Homestead is known for its wide slopes and as a great family learning area.
